Terms and Conditions, and Cancellation Rights Relating to the customer choosing:-

A verbal agreement regards a certain undertaking (or part thereof) at a certain hourly rate and, if more time is required and where satisfied with the work to date, may agree to continue the undertaking, or other subsequent undertakings on an ongoing basis, or;

A written estimate/quote.


1.Payment Clause

North Fife Handyman is “not” VAT Registered; therefore VAT is inclusive for Sundry Materials only. VAT is not included/applicable for Maintenance Services.

Payment, at periodic intervals, will be based on sundries sourced to date and/or work carried out to date. 

Please settle account on receipt of invoice for all Sundries supplied.

Please settle account on receipt of invoice for Maintenance Service, provided all snagging issues have been attended to.

If the Customer fails to make any payment within 14 days of invoice, the Customer agrees to pay interest on any unpaid balance at 3% over the Bank of Scotland base-lending rate.


2.Variations to written quotes or estimates.

Any requested variation cost is to be agreed with the Customer in writing before works are conducted.

If the Customer requests any variations, the Agreed Price will be varied by an amount or time period (as the case may be) to be agreed between the parties.

Requested variations and their effect will be recorded.


3.Program of Work

Prior to starting, a mutually suitable commencement date will be agreed. If for any reason it is not possible to give a completion date this will be agreed before commencement.

If warranted, key dates will be agreed throughout the program of the Agreed Work. Delivery dates of key elements will be mentioned.


4.Workmanship and Materials Supplied

North Fife Handyman shall carry out the Agreed Work in a proper and workmanlike manner.

All materials supplied by North Fife Handyman will also be of satisfactory quality and suitable for their intended purpose. Materials must be new unless otherwise agreed with the Customer.

Any faulty workmanship and/or materials must be notified to North Fife Handyman as early as possible. North Fife Handyman must be given the opportunity to inspect and, if deemed necessary request an expert's report to qualify problem and fault. If found to be as recorded then the North Fife Handyman will repair or replace as required.

Manufacturer’s recommendations will be followed and the Customer must adhere to any necessary recommendations.

Any materials supplied by the Customer must be delivered to the premises and checked by the Customer prior to incorporating into the Agreed Work. Any delay caused by Customer supply may be charged for.


5.Weather

If North Fife Handyman cannot complete the written Agreed Work on time because of extremely inclement weather, an extension to the Agreed Period will be agreed by a fair and reasonable time.

No concrete work, brickwork, or plastering and or external works such as rendering, slab laying, or decorations will be carried out if temperatures are 2ºC or below.


6.Water and Electricity

The Customer will supply all necessary water and electricity for carrying out the Agreed Work without charge to North Fife Handyman.

Any movement of meters or mains from the boundary to the meter and/or oil storage tanks will be the responsibility of the Customer.

If any building work is required in connection with the above, a cost must be agreed prior to commencement.


7.Local Authorities approvals

Any necessary Local authority Approvals will be sought and gained by the Customer prior to commencement of the Agreed Work. Copies of all relevant permissions and approvals are also to be forwarded to North Fife Handyman prior to commencement of the Agreed Work.

Any fees due for such approvals will be paid by the Customer.


8.Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007

It is the Customer’s responsibility to comply with the above regulations if they apply. North Fife Handyman will not accept any responsibility for any delays caused.


9.Guarantee

The Agreed Work is guaranteed against faulty workmanship and/or materials not fit for purpose for up to two years.

  1.   An Insurance-backed Guarantee can be offered at an additional cost.

  2. The Customer is to notify their insurance company of the work to be

   carried out before commencement of the Agreed Work.

  1. North Fife Handyman will have Public Liability Insurance of: £5,000,000

   under business description: Furniture Removal, Gardening Maintenance

   (ex Tree Felling), Handyman (Property Maintenance Only).

  1.   Any other cover by agreement with the Customer.


11. Cancellation

The Customer has the right to cancel the proposed work up to 14 days prior to the agreed start date.

A Cancellation Form should be provided with each estimate or quote.
